As with most of WWE's recent pay-per-views, the third hour of Hell in a Cell on October 2, 2011 was dominated by a single match. Alberto Del Rio, John Cena, and CM Punk faced each other inside the steel cage in a contest for the WWE Championship.
John Cena vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio
After the ring introductions, Del Rio immediately fled the ring as Punk charged at him. He also dodged Cena, and ran back into the ring as the two chased him. Cena kicked Del Rio repeatedly in the corner, and Punk grabbed Cena from behind and rolled him up for a pin attempt.
Cena attempted to land the Attitude Adjustment on Punk, and he reversed it into a GTS attempt, but neither was successful. An attack from Del Rio caused them all to crash into the side of the cage, and Punk landed a kick to Del Rio's head back in the ring.
